Description

The Bokeh Masters Kit ticks all the boxes. Fresh? Tick. Creative? Tick. Fun? Tick.

The Bokeh Masters Kit turns your night photography into a world of fun, creative light-shapes (or night-scapes).

Bokeh (Japanese for "blur" or "haze") is the blur in those out-of-focus areas of an image when you're shooting with your lens wide open (e.g. around f/1.4, f/1.8, f/2.8 depending what lens you use).

This Bokeh Masters Kit lets you turn those out-of-focus areas into fun, creative shapes rather than just a round blob in the background. Hey, not that there's anything wrong with a beautiful round bokeh blob, but if you want to spice things up a little this is the kit for you.

Turn your bokeh into sparkling stars, romantic hearts, smiley faces, flying butterflies or even jumping dolphins! (For a list of all the shapes included see the FAQ below).

The kit comes with 21 different pre-cut filter discs plus 8 blank filter discs (so you can cut your own unique shapes).

Shipment: ships within 24-48 hours

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What are the best lenses for the Bokeh Masters Kit?
A: The Bokeh Masters Kit is designed to work with lenses that have a filter size (lens diameter) up to 62mm. Anything over 62mm won't look so fantastic. Our tests show that the kit works best with the lenses listed below:

  • Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Canon 50mm f/1.8
  • Nikon 50mm /1.4, Canon 50mm f/1.4
  • Nikon 85mm f/1.8, Canon 85mm f/1.8
  • Nikon 28-105mm f/3.5-f/4.5
  • Kit Zooms: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6, Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6
  • Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM
  • Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (with vignetting)
However, the Bokeh Masters Kit may also work with other wide-aperture lenses of similar thread size.

Q: What aperture should I set on my lens when using the kit?
A: You'll get best bokeh results when you have a shallow depth of field, so we suggest shooting at f/2.8 or wider.

Q: Will The Bokeh Masters Kit work with other lenses?
A: It depends. It might. The size of the discs and the shapes are carefully designed for the lenses listed above. The filter holder is built for lenses with a maximum 62mm filter thread. For other lenses, we suggest that you select your widest aperture and shoot some test shots and see how it turns out.

Q: The filter holder moves away from the lens when I focus. Wassup?

A: It's all good. The Bokeh Master Kit is designed to work even if the disc is not perfectly flat against the lens.

Q: Can I place the filter holder over the UV filter I use to protect the lens?
A: Yes, that'll work just fine.

    Q: Is any assembly required?
A: Nope, your kit will arrive in flat plastic sheets and you just pop the disc shapes out of the sheet. You'll also pop out the filter holder and fold it where the instructions indicate.

    Q: What pre-cut shapes will I receive?
A: The 21 pre-cut shapes include a plane, a heart, a dolphin, a bird, a paw print, a happy face, a sad face, a star, an envelope (or email symbol), a butterfly, a check symbol, a movie camera, a biohazard symbol, headphones, a football player, a fleur de lis (flowery design), a walking man, a recycling symbol, an arrow (or mouse cursor symbol) and finally a beaver.

Plus, you'll get a full sheet of 8 discs to create your own shapes. Simply use a pencil and an exacto knife or a puncher to cut your own unique shapes.

Q: How do the filter discs attach to the lens?
A: Simply fold the three "legs" of the filter holder along the barrel of your lens and hold it in place with the colourful rubber band included with your kit. Then simply place the discs into the two slots on the filter holde. It's simple, ingenuitive and effective.
